      Better late than never…
Buntingwood is located about 4 miles SE of Bonsall. In 2015 (Journal 51) I wrote an article “Lost English villages called Bunting” which mentions it and has a photo I took at Buntingwood. Some Satellite images show cryptic circles and other features in a field beside Buntingwood that could be evidence of a pre-Roman settlement. A Roman road passes nearby from Whatstandwell to the lead mines of Wirksworth and Bonsall, and then on the the hot springs of Buxton.

The article in the journal was written by our late president George H Bunting. I suspect he found it in records from the Derbyshire Record Office.

In Bunting Society magazine issue 7 Buntingwood was mentioned-

“Buntingwood is another place mentioned in Derbyshire records, in the ownership of Thomas and William Bunting, a 16th century record this and… obviously derives from the family name”.

Does anyone know where this reference came from / can offer any more detail?

          Thanks
